Style was just what I wanted for a soft cotton ikat, and the pants turned out just as well as I’d hoped. I used Ban-Rol to help keep the front waistband straight and just did a casing for the elastic father than stitching though it. The fit was perfect! Love the generously sized pockets.

The pants look fabulous, I made a pair in linen cotton blend which are light and flowy, and also made a pair in cotton drill which are a little more stuff but still look great with the wide leg.
My only small complaints would be the sizing runs quite big, especially the waist with the elastic, and in the larger size (I made a size 22, usually wear an AUS 18) the pleat is too close to the pocket. So for my second pair I made the same size but added a second pleat and they fit and drape much nicer.

I made the Clare pants for someone who is 5’10” and kept them the original length which came about 3″ above her ankle. We usually make size 16 in Stylearc but we used size 14 for these.
I didn’t use the belt loops or the belt as these pants were to be worn with the Bonnie top version B and we felt the belt would add too much bulk. Both the Clare pants and the Bonnie top patterns were made from the same Liberty Tana Lawn. The pants hung softly in this fabric and didn’t seem too full.
I don’t like sewing elastic directly to garments as it’s impossible to adjust the waist afterward so I added a fabric casing to the waist and inserted the elastic into it. Because the Tana Lawn is so soft I didn’t bother keeping the front waistband flat.
As usual the instructions are not very helpful.

Love these pant, made them in linen and they fit beautifully, just shortened them a bit and left off the belt as I don’t like ties around my waist. Were a really quick sew, will definitely make them again.

Great pants pattern. I used the finished measurement table to select the right size for me. I made no adjustments and the fit is perfect, Love the flat front and elasticated back.

Love this pattern. I made mine with Viscose Linen and they are cool and lightweight for the sub tropics. Elastic waist did trick me up a little and stretched a little during the sew so will decrease the length used slightly next time.

Favourite Pants!! Plus size size 20 and they fit fabulously. Made in medium weight linen and they sit beautifully I have made them twice and each are my go to pants. True to size. Waist band and elastic is unique but sits beautifully. Wide leg pants that look like a skirt if you are careful with pattern matching in the front.

Lovely, comfortable pants that were easy to sew for me as a novice sewer! Agree with other comments that the size runs big and will probably make 1/2 size smaller next time.

I’ve made three pair of the Clare Pants – one in a Size 10 for myself and two for my sister in law in Size 16. I made hers full length and mine in the original 7/8ths, although I needed to shorten mine a lot being only 162cm. A very quick sew once I worked out how to sew the elastic (which is a great method once you get your head around it). Very comfy in the lightweight linen fabric I used.

These pants are so comfortable and the sizing is perfect. I made a 14 in a check and have been wearing them dressed up and down. I have got some linen coming so I can make another pair already. Very quick sew and the instructions are easy to follow.

This is my second Style Arc pattern after the Hope dress, and again it is an excellent pattern design. The instructions could be better, for example, “fold in half” is unclear whether you fold it lengthwise or the other way. I examined sewing blogs to figure some things out with the belt loops and the elastic waist. However the finished product is fabulous. I don’t think it even needs the belt loops and tie to be honest, its a very smart fit for an elastic waisted pant. Didn’t need to change the pattern at all. Would repurchase.

Enjoyed making up this pattern – sewed a pair of linen pants, plus size … they really are wide leg which I find hard to get used to after leggings!
The fit is just right, although I should have shortened the legs more than I did for my 5’3″ height – I ended up with pants to my ankles. I have a large stomach, and they sit really well with the flat elasticated waistband at the front. Very flattering.

Love these pants!! Loved the waist band construction. I made a size 8 without modification except for a 1” addition in length to get a great 7/8th length pant for my 5’11” frame. Definitely plan to make more. In the photos the pants are paired with the Vicki Top also from StyleArc. https://www.instagram.com/p/CCU5bmWA-3K/

I love these trousers. I added 3 cm to the rise although my elastic was wider than recommended to they probably ended up with 2.5 increase to the rise. I was apprehenive about the elastic waist but as other reviewers have said they are very flattering. I made them in a lovely cotton sateen and plan to make more. Highly recommend.

Always had slim leg trousers but as I was going on holiday decided to try these for a change, first time I have used style arc trouser pattern and I’m glad I did.
The pattern was easy to follow and the result great, I used my normal size 16 the only alteration was the leg length I took about five inches out but I suppose it all depends on your finished leg preference, I’m 5ft 4 in.
    Super comfy.👍

The most perfect pair of cropped wide leg pants I could imagine. I love everything about them – the width of the trouser leg, the slant pockets, the belt the elasticated waist which sits flat at the front – just perfect. Quick and easy to make (despite getting a little bit confused as to the direction of the pleat).
The only alteration I had to make is to shorten the length (which I always have to do as I am 5’2″). Love them! *rushes off to make a hundred more pairs of them*

How Do I Know What Size I Am?

Choosing your pattern size is the most important step and we will help you determine this with these easy to follow steps.

  1. When taking your measurements ensure that you take them against your skin and not over clothing. One can wear a comfortable bra and knickers whilst measuring, as this will provide you with the most accurate measurements.
  2. Tape measure has to sit firmly around the points you are measuring. But be careful not to pull it too tight, as this will give you the incorrect size.
  3. When measuring circumferences (B, C, D, E) it is important to note that the tape measure must remain parallel to the floor. It is sometimes best to take the measurements in front of a mirror; this will help you see the angle of the tape measure.
  4. You will only require the basic body measurements to determine your pattern size which is indicated on our mannequin below:
A. Shoulder Breadth

Place the tape at the edge of the shoulder. Measure along the top of the shoulder blade/across the highest point of the shoulders to the other edge, following the natural slope and allow an extra finger for ease of any movement.

B. Upper Arm Girth

This point is taken as a circumference at your widest point of your upper arm.

C. Bust

This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the fullest part of your chest.

D. Waist

This point is taken as a circumference and taken at the smallest part of your waist.

E. Hip

This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the widest part of your hips.
