Returning to dressmaking after a long gap and this was my first time using a Stylearc pattern, also new to using patterns in pdf format but I found the pattern easy to put together and everything fitted perfectly. The instructions were good and I was very happy with the way this top came together. I made it in a lightweight linen and the fit is perfect, a lovely top, so I will certainly be returning to make more patterns by Stylearc.

Joan pattern is a lovely quick pattern. I’ve made it twice, in seersucker and two way stretch jersey. I tweaked the vee it was a little low for my full bust and my bra was showing. I also lengthened the jersey fabric by 2 inches. I used up left over fabric so I had very little waste fabric

A lovely pattern.. I might tweak the next one by doing a size smaller with a small FBA but I’ll be wearing my first attempt this weekend.

This is a nice pattern but the sleeves stuck up a bit so I narrowed/tapered them, raised the front neckline, added 2.5 inches to the length and a front flounce which I stitched in at the shoulder seam and followed around the front neckline down the center seam. It’s looks really nice and flatters my figure.

A delightful pattern, I found the instructions for the ‘V” perfect. This is a must have top in the wardrobe, it looks great with either slim leg or wide leg pants.
A credit to the pattern makers

This is such a fun pattern to sew. I loved the clever way to make a perfect ‘v’ collar. Running a seam line down the front with an extension insures a perfect ‘v’–very clever. This top I made out of a light weight mechanical stretch only knit for a very cool top for everyday work outside, but my next project will be to make it in a silk for a dressy outfit paired with the Barry pants also in silk. I love the flexibility of the patterns to translate into various situations based on the material content.

Just love this pattern. Have made it in chambray fabric and looks awesome.
Perfect fit, cut out, sewn, now wearing with Ethel pants. Will be making more of this style.

Beautifully styled top- the pattern was easy and went together well. The top is semi-fitted but roomy. I made it in quilter’s cotton, so not very soft or giving, but it fits and sits well.

How Do I Know What Size I Am?

Choosing your pattern size is the most important step and we will help you determine this with these easy to follow steps.

  1. When taking your measurements ensure that you take them against your skin and not over clothing. One can wear a comfortable bra and knickers whilst measuring, as this will provide you with the most accurate measurements.
  2. Tape measure has to sit firmly around the points you are measuring. But be careful not to pull it too tight, as this will give you the incorrect size.
  3. When measuring circumferences (B, C, D, E) it is important to note that the tape measure must remain parallel to the floor. It is sometimes best to take the measurements in front of a mirror; this will help you see the angle of the tape measure.
  4. You will only require the basic body measurements to determine your pattern size which is indicated on our mannequin below:
A. Shoulder Breadth

Place the tape at the edge of the shoulder. Measure along the top of the shoulder blade/across the highest point of the shoulders to the other edge, following the natural slope and allow an extra finger for ease of any movement.

B. Upper Arm Girth

This point is taken as a circumference at your widest point of your upper arm.

C. Bust

This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the fullest part of your chest.

D. Waist

This point is taken as a circumference and taken at the smallest part of your waist.

E. Hip

This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the widest part of your hips.
