With right sides facing sew the centre back seams together. Neaten with an overlocker/serger and press towards the wearers right.

With right sides together sew the front shoulder seam to the back shoulder seam. Neaten with an overlocker/serger and press towards the back.

With right sides facing sew the short ends of the neckband together. Press the seam open, turn to the right side and press the neckband in half lengthways. Sew a stay stitch along the two raw edges to hold in place.

With right sides facing pin the raw edges of the neckband to the neck of the body, matching the centre back seam of the neckband to the centre back seam of the body and the centre front neckband notch to the centre front body. Once in place stitch together. Neaten with an overlocker/serger the seam and press towards the body.

To create the ‘V’ shaped neck, sew a dart shape approximately 6mm (¼”) wide on the inside of the band starting at the folded edge of the band to zero at the neck stitch line.

Sew an edge stitch close to the neck seam on the side of the body.

Neaten the armhole with an overlocker/serger. Turn in once to the inside and sew with a topstitch.

With right sides facing sew the front and back side seams together. Neaten with an overlocker/serger and press towards the back.

Sew a bar tack on top of the seam at the base of the armhole for reinforcement.

Neaten the hemline with an overlocker/serger, turn up the hem once to the inside and stitch with a twin needle cover stitch or plain machine topstitch. Take care not to rope (twist) the hem whilst sewing.
