I love this pattern. I made it in a jacquard jersey fabric and it is really comfortable and cosy to wear. Having read some comments on the group facebook page, I was going to go down a size but, once I’d traced the pattern, I decided not to and am happy with the fit of my normal size. I did shorten the sleeves by 4″ (10 cm) and took 2″ (5 cm) out of the length. I’ve got more of the same fabric in a different colour to make another one.

Made this twice now. The first time with a heavyweight but very drapey jersey leaving off the bottom cuff, and the second time with a thick cotton fleece. Both large and baggy as mentioned by others but I think they work very well with Bob pants. The jersey version was slightly disappointing because (somehow) I was expecting the neck to stand up, and because without the bottom band the cuffs hand from below the hem when you put your hands in them. The fleece version kept the bottom band (although the pocket hanging thing still happens to come degree unfortunately) but I decreased the height of the neck by 4″ (so 2″ when worn) and I’m glad I did as it stands up a mile! The fleece version is definitely the better of the two – this pattern needs a fabric with some body – but I think the pockets could do with some sort of rethink. Will defo make more but perhaps leave the pockets off and see how that works.

Also! when choosing fabric, don’t go for anything too thick as you could have 4 layers to stitch together in some places and your machine might struggle.

This top was ENORMOUS! I normalyy buy size large or 14 in a store. After reading the finished measurements for a 10 I decided to make a 12. It was HUGE! The sleeves were about 6 inches too long (and I have very long arms) and the body was so wide. I will not likely wear this top. not worth my time to alter it. It was however, easy to construct. Disappointed…

This top came together quickly. The instructions were clear except for the pocket facing part. I found that confusing. This was my first Style Arc pattern so I relied on the sizing chart for the size but I found this top too roomy. It’s ok for a casual top but next time I would make a smaller size.

I loved this pattern, as all the patterns I have purchased from Style Arc the fit was perfect for me. I made two in fine polarfleece.
The only alteration I made was to the collar which was too wide for me, I reduced by 9cm on the fold, which also suited the fabric.
Easy to make, great pattern thanks Style Arc

I really wanted to like this pattern, but it is quite different from what it looks like in the illustration. I’ve made it with fleece and sweater knit. The shoulder seam lands between the elbow and the shoulder, not near the top of the shoulder as shown in the illustration. And the neck opening is very large. I’ve made adjustments to the pattern. I’ve even made it two sizes smaller but it still looks big and a bit sloppy. My other Style Arc patterns are great, but this one didn’t work for me.

I’m not a particularly experienced sewer but found this easy to follow and fairly quick to make. I had read reviews that the neck was very wide so I narrowed by 1″ both sides, and removed from the centre of the cowl accordingly. I added 1.5 to length of sleeves and body (5’9″ with long arms) but didn’t actually need to. I would probably slightly shorten the bottom band if I make it again as it very slightly kicks out. Made in 300 weight knit/hi loft fleece, even for the pockets, and worked well.

How Do I Know What Size I Am?

Choosing your pattern size is the most important step and we will help you determine this with these easy to follow steps.

  1. When taking your measurements ensure that you take them against your skin and not over clothing. One can wear a comfortable bra and knickers whilst measuring, as this will provide you with the most accurate measurements.
  2. Tape measure has to sit firmly around the points you are measuring. But be careful not to pull it too tight, as this will give you the incorrect size.
  3. When measuring circumferences (B, C, D, E) it is important to note that the tape measure must remain parallel to the floor. It is sometimes best to take the measurements in front of a mirror; this will help you see the angle of the tape measure.
  4. You will only require the basic body measurements to determine your pattern size which is indicated on our mannequin below:
A. Shoulder Breadth

Place the tape at the edge of the shoulder. Measure along the top of the shoulder blade/across the highest point of the shoulders to the other edge, following the natural slope and allow an extra finger for ease of any movement.

B. Upper Arm Girth

This point is taken as a circumference at your widest point of your upper arm.

C. Bust

This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the fullest part of your chest.

D. Waist

This point is taken as a circumference and taken at the smallest part of your waist.

E. Hip

This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the widest part of your hips.
