CONSTRUCTION:
BODY:
Sew two rows of a large gathering stitch along the top of the back body between the notches, then gather up to the length of the notches marked on the yoke.
With right sides facing sew the back yoke to the back body, neaten the seam with overlocker/serger, press the seam upward, turn to the right side and sew a 6mm (¼”) top stitch on the side of the yoke.
With right sides facing sew the front and back shoulder seams together, neaten with overlocker/serger and press to the back.
With right sides facing sew the front and back side seams together, neaten with overlocker/serger and press to the back.
With right sides facing sew the shoulder seams of the neck facing together, press seams open and neaten the outer edge of the facing.
With right sides facing sew the neck to the neck facing, turn to the right side and understitch close to the seam on the side of the facing.
Pin neck facing in place then sew a 6mm (¼”) top stitch around the neck.
Overlock/serge and edge stitch (or double neaten if you prefer) the outer rounded edges of the hem frills.
Sew two rows of a large gathering stitch along the straight edges of the front and back frills then gather up to the length to match the hem template.
Wrap the back ruffle over the front ruffle by 12cm (5”) and sew a stay stitch to hold the wrap together.
With right sides facing sew the frills to the hem of the body, neaten the seam with overlocker/serger.
Press the seam of the body and frill upward and sew a 6mm (¼”) topstitch to the seam on the side of the body.
SLEEVES:
With right sides facing sew the under-sleeve seams together, neaten the seam with overlocker/serger and press to the back.
Over lock and edge stitch or double neaten one edge of the hem frills.
Sew two rows of a large gathering stitch to the opposite edge of the sleeve frills then gather up to the length of the sleeve template.
With right sides facing sew the sleeve frill to the sleeve opening, neaten with overlocker/serger, press the seam upwards and from the right side sew a 6mm (¼”) top stitch on top of the seam on the side of the sleeve.
Sew a large stitch on the head of the sleeve and slightly draw in. With right sides together sew the sleeves into the armholes, matching the notches as you go, neaten the armhole seam with overlocker/serger and press towards the sleeve.
Press your new top.
