CONSTRUCTION:
OPTIONAL POCKETS:
Sew one set of the pockets to the front legs side seam where marked on the pattern (A-A), sew only between the notches. Clip at the notches and understitch on the side of the pocket bag.
With right sides facing sew the second set of pockets to the pockets that are sewn to the front side seam, stitch the two pocket bags together around the outer edges creating a pocket (B-B). The straight edge of the under pocket is left free to sew to the back leg side seam. Neaten the outer edges of the pocket with an overlocker/serger.
Fold the pockets to the inside of the front legs. Baste the side top and base
of the pocket to the side seam.
LEGS:
With RST, sew the front and back sides seams together. If using the optional pocket, start sewing at the waist and sew down to the pocket and carefully sew through the straight edge of the under pocket, continue sewing finishing at the leg opening. Neaten the seam with an overlocker/serger and press towards the back.
With RST, sew the front and back in leg seams together. Neaten the seam with an overlocker/serger and press toward the back.
With RST, sew front and back crotch seams. Neaten the seam with an overlocker/serger and press toward the side.
OPTIONAL DRAWSTRING:
Sew two buttonholes on the front waist ready for the draw string channel. Buttonholes are not needed if using elastic instead of a drawstring.
Neaten the top edge of the waist and turn to the inside at the foldline notch. Stitch the channel to the pant with a single or twin needle top stitch.
With WST sew the centre back seams of the ties together, press the seam open.
Press the long edges and the two short ends of the tie seams to the inside and with WST press the tie in half and pin together. Once in place sew along the length of the tie with an edge stitch and press.
Using a safety pin thread the tie through one buttonhole and out the other.
OPTIONAL ELASTIC WAIST:
Cut the elastic to your personal length and stitch together securely.
Using an overlocker/serger, sew the elastic to the top edge of the waistline stretching it as you sew.
Turn the elastic to the inside and the stitch down with a twin needle top stitch.
COMPLETION:
Neaten the pant hem and turn the hem to the inside at the 2cm notch (or optional double neaten) and stitch with a single or twin needle top stitch.
Press your new pants.
