CONSTRUCTION:
With right sides facing sew the centre back seams together. Neaten with an overlocker/serger and press towards the wearers right.
With right sides facing sew the front and back shoulder seams together. Neaten with an overlocker/serger and press towards the back.
With right sides facing, sew the two short ends of the neckband together. Turn out to the right side and press in half lengthways. Sew a stay stitch along both raw edges of the neckband to hold it in place.
Pin the neckband to the neck, once in place stitch together, stretching the neckband as you sew. Neaten with an overlocker/serger and press the seams down. Edgestitch close to the seam on the side of the body.
From the inside sew the bust darts that come from the armholes and press downwards.
With right sides together sew the sleeves into the armholes matching the sleeve notches to the notches on the armhole. Neaten with an overlocker/serger and press towards the sleeve.
Neaten each side seam of the body and also each side seam of the sleeves with an overlocker/serger. With right sides together, sew the front and back side seams together. Start at the notch at the split opening and sew up to the underarm, then continue sewing down the sleeve seam, press the seams open.
Neaten the sleeve hem with an overlocker/serger and turn at the notch to the inside and stitch around the hem with a twin needle topstitch.
MITRED CORNERS:
Following diagrams, A, B, C & D, with right sides facing fold the corners of the mitred hem/split to match each other and stitch together. Clip the corner, press the seam open and turn out to the right side.
Pin the turnback of the split and the hem, once in place sew the split openings and the hem with a twin needle topstitch.
Press your new dress.
