Clip into the corners of the pocket opening as marked on the pattern (be careful not to clip beyond the fold line). Double neaten the pocket opening (the first fold should align with the cut edge of the pocket; the second fold should align with the stitching line). Press to the inside and top stitch. Neaten the three outer edges of the pocket with an overlocker/serger and press inward (to the wrong side).

Pin the pocket into position as marked on the front leg pattern and aligning at the side seam notches. Top stitch the pockets into place and baste at the side seams. Refer to the diagram.

With RST sew the front and back inside legs together, neaten the seams with an overlocker/serger and press toward the back.

With RST sew the front and back side seams together, take care when sewing past the pocket opening. neaten with an overlocker/
serger and press towards the back.

With RST sew the front crotch seams together. Start sewing at the front waistline, stitch down to the base of the crotch and continue sewing the back crotch seams together, finishing at the back waist seam.

With RST sew the front and back hem facings together and press the seams open. Neaten the top edge of the facing with an overlocker/serger.

With RST and matching the notches, sew the leg opening to the hem facing, turn to the right side and sew an understitch on the side of the hem facing.

Pin the hem facing to the inside of the leg; once in place, stitch down with a top stitch.

Cut the elastic to your personal size, lay one edge on top of the other edge and stitch together securely. Mark the elastic into quarters with chalk.

Stitch the elastic to the top edge of the pant, matching the quarter markings to the centre front, side seams and centre back seams to achieve an even spread of elastic.

Neaten the top waist edge of the pant with an overlocker/serger and sew a stay stitch to the opposite edge of the elastic/pant to hold the elastic in place.

Fold the elastic to the inside of the pant and pin; once in place, sew the lower edge of the elastic to the pant, stretching it as you sew.

Press your new pant.
