BODY AND POCKET WELTS:
With right sides facing sew the centre front body to the side body, matching notches as you sew. With right sides facing sew the centre back seams together, until the split notch. With right sides facing sew the side back body to the back body, following notches as you sew. Press seams open.
Fuse centre back neck, back armhole, front armhole, and centre fronts.
With right sides facing sew the side front and side back side seams together.
Fuse half of each pocket welts. With right sides facing fold the pocket welt together lengthwise and sew the two shorter outer edges, clip corners and turn through to the correct side and press.
Pin the raw edges of the pocket welt with the folded edge facing downward between the drill-holes marked on the pattern. Stitch in place.
Fold the welt upwards and stitch the welt ends in place, 3mm/ 1/8”.
LINING/INSIDE:
Repeat steps 1,2,3 & 5 on the construction sheet leaving an opening in the left side seam to turn out the vest to the correct side when arriving at step 21.

With right sides facing pin the lining to the body around the armholes and around the neck. Once in place sew, stopping at the notches placed 5cm/2” down from the shoulder.
Press all seams toward the lining.
Turn to the correct side of the lining and flat stitch 3mm/1/8” around the armholes where possible, as close to the seam on the lining side.
Pull the shoulder seams through to the inside, pin and sew the front and back shoulder seams together.
Pin the 5cm/2” opening on the armhole and neck, matching the shoulder seams. Once in place, sew.
(Not pictured) Clip along the raw edge the neck seam, this will ensure the neck sits flat. Press seam towards lining side.
Turn to the correct side of the fabric and understitch around the neckline, where possible, as close to the seam on the lining side.
With right sides facing stitch and bag out the lower centre back split by sewing along hem for about 5cm and then up the split to match the centre back seam.
With right sides facing sew the hem of the main body to the lining, matching seams as you sew. Press seam towards the lining.
Turn to the correct side of fabric and understitch around the hem where possible, as close to the seam on the lining side.
With right sides facing sew the centre front body and lining seam together and press.
Pull vest through to the correct side and press. Hand sew the opening to close.
Press the vest and topstitch 8mm/ 3/8” around the hem and neckline.Mark buttonholes on the right front, sew your buttonholes.
Mark the button position and hand stitch buttons on the opposite side.
Press your finished vest!
