CONSTRUCTION – TOP:
With RST fold the pocket top over, sew down each side of the turnover, clip the corners and turn the pocket top out.
Turn the outer pocket seams inward and press.
Pin the pocket to the left front body as marked on the pattern. Once in place, sew the outer edges of the pocket with an edge stitch.
With RST, sew the back and front shoulder seams together. Neaten with an overlocker/serger and press towards the back.
Join the short ends of the neckband together, turn to the right side and press in half lengthways with wrong sides together. Stay stitch the two long raw edges together.
Pin the neckband to the neck matching the centre front notch and centre back notches. The neckband will need to be slightly stretched onto the neck. Sew the neckband to the neck then neaten with an overlocker/serger and press towards the body.
Edge stitch close to the seam on the side of the body.
With RST, sew the sleeves into the armhole openings, matching the notches as you sew. Neaten with an overlocker/serger and press towards the sleeve.
With RST, sew the back and front side seams together. Sew from the hemline to the underarm seam, then continue sewing along the sleeve seam. Neaten with an overlocker/serger and press towards the back.
Neaten the hem of the body and sleeves with an overlocker/serger. Turn the hems to the inside and sew with a twin-needle, cover stitch or stretch stitch.
Lightly press.
CONSTRUCTION – PANT/SHORT:
With RST sew the back and front in-leg seam together and neaten with an overlocker/serger. Repeat for other leg.
With RST, sew the back crotch seams together. Start at the back waistline, sew down the crotch seam, and continue sewing around the crotch. Sew the front crotch seams together, finishing at the front waist. Neaten with an overlocker/serger.
With RST sew the back and front side seams together. Neaten with an overlocker/ serger.
Cut the elastic to your preferred personal length. Lay one end on top of the opposite end and stitch together securely.
With the elastic on the inside, pin one edge of the elastic to the top edge of the waist. Once in place, overlock/serge the elastic to the top of the waist (or sew with a stretch stitch), stretching the elastic as you sew.
Turn the elastic to the inside and pin into place. Topstitch the overlocked/serged edge of the elastic to the pants stretching the elastic as you sew.
Neaten each leg opening with an overlocker/serger. Turn to the inside at the hem notch and top stitch. You may choose to use a twin needle.
Lightly press your completed pyjama pant.
