POCKETS:

With right sides facing sew the pocket bag (7) to the rounded pocket seam on the front leg. Turn the pocket to the inside and understitch the seam on the side of the pocket bag.

With RST sew the pocket bearer (6) to the pocket bag around the outer edges. Neaten with an overlocker/serger then press and pin in place.

Sew a vertical edge stitch approx. 4cm (1 ¾”) to the top of the pocket opening to hold in place.

LEGS:

With RST, sew the side seams of the front (3) and back (4) legs together. Neaten with an overlocker/serger and press towards the back.

With RST, sew the front and back inseams together. Neaten with an overlocker/serger and press towards the back.

With RST, sew the crotch seams together, start at the top of the back and finish at the top of the front. Neaten the seam with an overlocker/serger and press to one side.

Overlock/serge the waist seam and the leg openings.

FRONT ZIP:

With RST sew the lower centre front (1) seams together and press open. If your zip is shorter adjust the seam to suit your zip length.

Note: the centre front zip seam is for an exposed zip. Sew the zip to each side of the seam, carefully clip at the base as marked on the pattern and sew across the base of the zip.

BODICE:

With RST, sew the front and back (2) shoulder seams neaten with an overlocker/serger and press towards the back.

With RST sew the sleeves (5) into the armhole matching the notches, neaten with an overlocker/serger and press towards the sleeve.

With RST sew the front and back side seams together, start at the waist and sew up the under arm and continue sewing down the sleeve seams finishing at the sleeve opening. Overlock/serge the seams and press towards the back.

Neaten the waist seam with an overlocker/serger.

CUFFS:

With RST sew the two short ends of the cuffs (8) together, press the seam open and turn out to the right side. Fold in half lengthways and sew a basting stitch to the two cut edges to hold in place.

With RST sew the cuffs to the sleeve opening, neaten the seam with an overlocker/serger and press the seam upwards.

NECKBAND OPTION:

With WST fold the neckband (11) in half lengthways and sew a basting stitch to the two cut edges to hold in place.

Sew the neckband to the neck, matching the notches as you sew; note that the neckband is stretched on. Overlock/serge the neck seam.

With WST fold the top of the zip seam over the neck seam and stitch. Turn out to the right side; this gives you a clean neck seam finish.

Sew an optional 6mm (1/4”) top stitch along each side and across the base of the zip.

HOOD OPTION:

With RST sew the front hood (9) to the back hood (10), and repeat for the remaining hood pieces. As this hood is double, you will have two pairs – one pair for the inside hood and one pair for the outer hood.

With RST sew the centre back and front hood seams together.

With RST sew the front edges of both hood openings together and turn them out to the right side.

Sew the outer hood neck seam to the neckline of the body and press the seam up towards the hood.

With RST sew the front neck edges of the inner hood to the neckline and turn out to the right side. Now turn under the back neck hood seam of the inner hood and stitch-in-the-ditch to secure it to the back neck.

Sew an optional 6mm (1/4”) top stitch along each side and across the base of the zip.

SEWING BODICE TO PANT AND COMPLETION:

With RST using a 1cm (3/8″) seam, sew the bodice waist seam to the pant at the 3cm (1 1/4″) notch that creates the elastic casing.

Take your elastic and overlap the ends 1cm (3/8”). Stitch the ends securely.

Place the elastic inside the casing at the sewn waist seam.

Fold the elastic channel up to the inside of the bodice and pin it in place.

Top stitch along the top edge of the casing, stretch the elastic out to achieve an even spread of elastic.

Turn the leg hems to the inside and stitch with a 6mm (1/4″) stretch top stitch or twin needle stitch.

Press your new Onesie.
