Meet our Maker of the Month for March @_busylizzie 🌸
Liz has transformed the Byron Woven Top pattern into a stunning square-neck maxi dress, complete with pockets!
Below are Liz’s thoughts on her recent make…
“When I made the Style Arc Byron pattern recently, I thought it would make a wonderful dress bodice. I cropped it (even more) to finish on my waist, narrowed it a little and added a simple tiered skirt. I had more fabric to play with so decided to make this a maxi dress for a change. I fully self lined it as I find the facings on my top want to poke out a little. It also means less ironing!”
Liz has been awarded a $40 Style Arc voucher for being chosen as Maker of the Month. Would you like to be recognized as the Maker of the Month for April? Simply tag #samakerapril24 on Instagram for a chance to win.

1. How long have you been sewing, and who taught you how to sew?
I’ve been sewing since I was 10. My mum sent me to a Knitwit course for the school holidays and I was hooked!! I sewed on and off through my teens and am self-taught or from Burda magazines.
2. What drives your passion for sewing the most?
I love being able to make what I want/need in my size and colour. I’d hate to shop ready to wear and hope they have the colour/style/size I want.
3. Which Style Arc Patterns currently top your Wishlist?
The new Twig pants look fantastic, and I love the recent Zalia pattern too!
4. If you could travel back in time, what advice would you give to yourself as a beginner sewist?
Just do it, it’s just fabric, there’s always more.
Also, stay away from chiffon and georgette until you know more!!
