I’ve made this pattern once, and I have at least two more planned. I haven’t made this style before, and I thought it might be a little too baggy for me, but I love it. It’s cute and comfortable. I followed the pattern directions the first time, but I don’t really love the method used to insert the elastic. I’ll use another method on the next pair. I made the first pair with 100% linen. I’m really between two sizes, and I decided to size up to make sure everything fit over my hips. I think I could have sized down with good results, but these are fine. I’ll make some adjustments with the next pair. All in all, this is a great pattern. https://www.instagram.com/p/C7KA_GJrLPZ/?igsh=MTZ2OW90ZHo5bWQ4Yw==

I didn’t want to make a toile as time was of the essence. So, I forged ahead with a straight 12 and absolutely love, love, love this pant! It fit wonderfully! It was so quick and easy to assemble. So many complements on them as well! There are several more in my future without a doubt; may even length for a couple a winter pairs! I love Style Arc Patterns….sew almost exclusively with them! Thanks, SA for a great pair of pants!

Tolle Lagenlookhose. Ich habe sie aus einem Cord genäht. Perfekter Sitz.

This was the first pair of Style Arc pants I have made. The tops run really large on me, so I confidently ordered my usual size (10). However, I found the sizing very small. I had to enlarge the waistband just so that I could get it over my hips. I wasn’t really happy with the method for attaching the waistband either. Next time I would do it differently (join waistband centre back leaving room for elastic, attach right sides facing to pants, overlock the edge, press down and topstitch, then insert waist elastic afterwards).
I bought 38mm elastic because I couldn’t find 40mm elastic, and it was a really tight fit getting the elastic into the waistband. I actually had to reduce the width of the frill to get it to work.
Next time I would
– allow a little more seam allowance for the waistband so that the frill could be larger and the elastic could fit between the seams more easily.
– allow more seam allowance for the hem so I could sew a tidier hem.
in all truth, as a size 10, to get the baggy look that others have achieved, I think I would have needed to upsize to a size 14! However, I am happy with the final result.

My new favourite pants. I wasn’t sure how these would look on a plus size sized person but I absolutely love them. Made some personal modifications started size 22 but graded up around hips and waist to avoid legs being too “balloony” and adding 5 cm to rise front and back for tummy allowance. I shortened them by 5cm to allow for my 163cm height. For more details see my Instagram post https://www.instagram.com/p/CwuC9Cex71C/?igshid=NzZhOTFlYzFmZQ==

I wanted a pair of light weight, interesting pants that I can dress up or down for a trip to Europe for this coming summer. I used Tencel for these pants and love the look and feel of them. I made a muslin with the Top Down Centre Out method and highly recommend this method as it finally helped me get a good fit in pants…even with the elastic waist. I added about 2″ to the CB length and 1 cm to the back crotch point and 1″ to the CF and they are perfect. I am 5’5″, 145 lbs with hips a little wider than bust and wondered about the style on me, but I like it so much. I took out the pockets as I felt they just drooped a little too much in this fabric but with a less drapey fabric I would keep them in. I did a casing for the waist instead of the suggested method. I will be making these again. Like so many others have said, Style Arc patterns are well drafted and the designs are interesting.

Finally made these up in a cotton linen blend. Shortened them 9 cm (I’m 163cm) so they sit around 10 cm from my ankle.
Easy to put together and they fit really well ( after a bit of fiddling with back crotch seam). They are super comfy and am on the way to making more

Love the fit of these pants. Just finished—an easy sew, and even though the instructions re minimalist, they’re totally adequate for these simple pants. I’m sure I will make many more.
This weekend I did a Billie , Bob and Barry sew off.
Barry came in a close second to Billie.
Liked Barry’s shape, slanted pockets and elastic waist.
A linen pair is on my future sewing list.
I recommend this pattern. It is easy to sew and goes together quickly.

Excellent pattern, have made several pairs of Bob’s in knits and wovens and liked the slight difference in style. Have used quite a few Stylarc pants patterns and as I am short know that any description that includes ankle grazer should be the perfect length.

Nice pants! I bought the Archie and Barry bundle and I am happy I did. Those two garments go together very well. From before I have made the Bob pants several times and I love them. I find that Barry is a lot like Bob, but with less fullness over the hips and thighs. The other difference is that the waistband is not attached, but folded over to make a channel for the elastic. This creates a paperbag waist effect. Also Barry has slanted pockets and not side seam pockets. All in all I love the Barry pants and will make them again, I made it in linen and I made the size I always do. No surprises and no alterations needed.

These are my new favourite summer pants! I’ve made them twice now from a mid-weight linen and I really enjoy everything about these pants. They’re easy to sew and easy to wear. My first pair I cut a straight size 12 based on my hip measurement and cut elastic for a size 10 based on my waist measurement. My second pair I did a slight flat seat adjustment and I think the back fits a little bit nicer now. On my next pair I might try to figure out how to reduce the excess fabric that forms a ‘V’ around the crotch area.
I’ve made quite a few pairs of elastic-waist pants so I knew what I was doing and I’m glad I did because the instructions weren’t super clear about how to attach the waistband, so I just did what I thought was best.

How Do I Know What Size I Am?
Choosing your pattern size is the most important step and we will help you determine this with these easy to follow steps.
When taking your measurements ensure that you take them against your skin and not over clothing. One can wear a comfortable bra and knickers whilst measuring, as this will provide you with the most accurate measurements.
Tape measure has to sit firmly around the points you are measuring. But be careful not to pull it too tight, as this will give you the incorrect size.
When measuring circumferences (B, C, D, E) it is important to note that the tape measure must remain parallel to the floor. It is sometimes best to take the measurements in front of a mirror; this will help you see the angle of the tape measure.
You will only require the basic body measurements to determine your pattern size which is indicated on our mannequin below:
A. Shoulder Breadth
Place the tape at the edge of the shoulder. Measure along the top of the shoulder blade/across the highest point of the shoulders to the other edge, following the natural slope and allow an extra finger for ease of any movement.
B. Upper Arm Girth
This point is taken as a circumference at your widest point of your upper arm.
C. Bust
This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the fullest part of your chest.
D. Waist
This point is taken as a circumference and taken at the smallest part of your waist.
E. Hip
This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the widest part of your hips.

Absolutely love these pants! I haven’t sewn in 25+ years and reinvigorated my sewing with these pants. They are beginner friendly, easy, amazingly comfortable, and very quick to sew. A must for everyone!

Fabulous!!!
Every bit as wonderful as Bob pants. Great fit. Lovely pockets. I dislike paperbag waistband so just added plain one.
Plan to make many more.

Other than that, I highly recommend this pattern.
