Two top options in the one pattern. 1 – Sleeveless swing shape top with a cropped length. 2 – A square shaped drop shoulder and longer length top. Both tops feature a round neck and functional back opening.
I made view A but ommitted the button closure at the back and just cut the back on the fold. I like the shape but will add 5cm in length next time I make it.

I made the B version Bonnie top for someone who is 5″10″. I usually sew a 16 for her in Stylearc patterns but after carefully measuring the pattern tiles I chose a size 14 in the Bonnie. This was a new pattern for both of us so I made a test copy first from old sheets to check out the fit.
The final version was made from Liberty Tana Lawn so it hangs softly in the body and the sleeves fit nicely under the epaulettes. I lengthened the top 2 1/2 inches as she didn’t want a crop top. I also lengthened the small extension that is used for the sleeve hems.- I added about 1/2 inch on the hem end of the sleeves so there was more fabric to turn under, making a neater sleeve finish.
Just be careful with the topstitching – press carefully first, place pins close together or baste. Don’t try to topstitch the whole top at once. Topstitch in sections, checking each section before continuing and maybe pressing each section and you should be fine.
As once reviewer already said, she doesn’t have to undo the buttons to put on the top. The neckline is not too wide or low for her.
As usual the instructions are not very helpful which is a shame considering the price of Stylearc patterns. Not very encouraging for new sewists. I’ve been sewing for over 60 years and still had to guess at some construction steps.
This top was paired with the Stylearc Clare pant. Sorry I don’t have any pictures.

I love the finished crop top (I’ve been wanting to make a top in this style for a long time). The garment is easy enough to make, but the instructions are not clear and there aren’t really illustrations to explain the steps . There’s just a series of text based instructions, that have typos and are run-on sentences so it’s really confusing to follow. There’s 1 illustration in the whole packet. For paying a premium price for the pattern, I expected more instruction.
I emailed my questions, and someone responded a week later basically restating what was in the instructions (not helpful). I ended up figuring things out for myself through trial and error.
For context, I am an experienced sewer. I would only recommend this pattern if you are experienced at sewing and constructing garments and are prepared to figure out the instructions without any guidance.

I have made both of these tops and love them both! The first two were made of denim, one embroidered and the other plain, to go with an embroidered denim Bonnie skirt. I’m so excited about these garments and can’t wait to wear them. The next ones I make will be a linen/eucalyptus blend. Using the measurements of the pattern guide, I found them to be a perfect fit with no alterations, always a plus for me, as I am 5’11” tall and am currently wearing StyleArc’s size 14. A win all around!

How Do I Know What Size I Am?
Choosing your pattern size is the most important step and we will help you determine this with these easy to follow steps.
When taking your measurements ensure that you take them against your skin and not over clothing. One can wear a comfortable bra and knickers whilst measuring, as this will provide you with the most accurate measurements.
Tape measure has to sit firmly around the points you are measuring. But be careful not to pull it too tight, as this will give you the incorrect size.
When measuring circumferences (B, C, D, E) it is important to note that the tape measure must remain parallel to the floor. It is sometimes best to take the measurements in front of a mirror; this will help you see the angle of the tape measure.
You will only require the basic body measurements to determine your pattern size which is indicated on our mannequin below:
A. Shoulder Breadth
Place the tape at the edge of the shoulder. Measure along the top of the shoulder blade/across the highest point of the shoulders to the other edge, following the natural slope and allow an extra finger for ease of any movement.
B. Upper Arm Girth
This point is taken as a circumference at your widest point of your upper arm.
C. Bust
This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the fullest part of your chest.
D. Waist
This point is taken as a circumference and taken at the smallest part of your waist.
E. Hip
This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the widest part of your hips.
