The reverse inverted pleats give this designer dress its unique shape. This dress has a fitted bodice along with a dropped shoulder. The shape of the engineered sleeve is created by the under-sleeve tucks. The essential side pockets and mid-calf length give this dress its designer feel.

Beautiful hourglass shaped dress, I like it because it looks a bit different to most of the dress patterns out there. It came together quickly and easily once I had everything worked out (I watched a Youtube video which helped me make sense of the pleats). After consulting the finished measurements, I went down a size because I wanted it to be quite fitted. I have a full bust, but did not need to alter the pattern, though I did use a woven fabric with some stretch, so it wqs a bit more forgiving. If I want to make one with a looser fit in the future, I will probably do a full bust adjustment to give myself a bit more room.

I so love the shape and style of this dress.
The printed pattern came with very brief instructions, which I blieve reflect the kevel of experience required to complete the dress. I made the dress over a couple off weekends and used a couple of YouTube videos to help me out.
I am a 10/12 and made the dress in a 10..I know I made the sew more difficult by choosing a check pattern
I have been sewing for many years but only really started naming my dresses this last 10 months ths. The Gertrude Dress was a real challenge but I learnt a lot.

Fabulous fabulous pattern but enormous. And I say that as someone whose aesthetic runs to sack-like and who knows their style arc size. Easy to refine fit for waist and hips but shoulder facing makes it difficult once sleeves are in.
Imagine would look lovely sleeveless: effectively a cap sleeve as is.

Love this dress. Love the angle that the under sleeve creates for the sleeve hem. I think it is very flattering.
Initially I had an issue with trying to get the top of the box pleat sorted. In the end I worked it out.
All the pieces went together easily. It was an enjoyable sew.

Very flattering dress. I love it! Have made 4; 1 in viscose, 1 in linen/viscose, 1 in tencel and 1 in linen/ tencel/viscose.
Made personal adjustments, and the markings still was perfect.
Have not been able to wear them out yet, but are looking forward to use them!

I love this dress, the shaping suits my body type. Made it in linen from Spotlight. I lowered the neckline slightly at the front, shortened the shoulder width and the length of the bodice. Wore to a wedding with a self made belt. I love Style Arc patterns.

I thoroughly enjoyed making this dress, which was my second experience of a StyleArc pattern. I followed the advice of others and opted for the smaller size. I’m usually on the border of a 10/12 and the 10 fitted perfectly.
The pattern pieces come together really easily, notches match up great, and a personally found some of the touches really helpful – like markings on the pattern stating which side of the sleeves is the front.
The only observation I would make is that there is no guidance in the instructions as to when the seams ought to be finished on the inside (overlocking etc). As the pattern isn’t lined, I opted for a Hong Kong finish. But worth bearing in mind that you may need to finish the seams at key points.
I made this in a lightweight cotton drill in a dusky pink and it looks lovely. It was a test run for a silk that I’m going to opt for next.
I chose to insert a lapped zip, but only because I didn’t have an invisible zip long enough. It still looked great.

This is a very stylish dress. The drafting is wonderful – the sleeves slot in so perfectly. I made a size 12 without the zip as I wanted a slightly more relaxed fit as I will be wearing this on Xmas day. I used the instructions for the inseam pockets from the Montana Dress. These give a very good finish to the pocket and the seam. I used a washed linen from Tesutti’s and underlined with a cotton lawn. Next version will be a size 10 with zip in silk for my MOB dress. https://www.instagram.com/p/CIPhpEcg_x9/?igshid=1fcbw8sbb536r

I love the design and it comes together beautifully, but the sizing is on the larger side, haad to reduce significantly, and now regret not buying multi-size, since I’m more than one size off.

I have now made this dress in 3 different versions. The first was to play around with the fitting on the top, just needed reducing a little and I elongated the back pleats slightly. I am very pleased with the result.
Made this up in plain 100% linen which emphasised the shaping, great to dress up or down. I usually cut a size larger to fit but wish I hadn’t for this, had to take in quite a bit as it works up quite large. I’ll be making up more Style Arc patterns!

Like the look of dress. Really easy to put together but huge sizing for me. Had to take in at the back seam a couple of inches and don’t need a zipper which is good because the pale green sage linen I bought didn’t have matching zipper–couldn’t find anything close!! I like but just a little frumpy from the back.

This pattern was bought as part of a birthday gift for my daughter. I had sent the email announcing its release to her as I liked it very much but I am no longer slim and it would not have suited me. She liked the design hence the purchase. She has a demanding job, husband and two kids to care for but has cut out the dress and is hoping to finish sewing it this week end. She is still liking it.

How Do I Know What Size I Am?
Choosing your pattern size is the most important step and we will help you determine this with these easy to follow steps.
When taking your measurements ensure that you take them against your skin and not over clothing. One can wear a comfortable bra and knickers whilst measuring, as this will provide you with the most accurate measurements.
Tape measure has to sit firmly around the points you are measuring. But be careful not to pull it too tight, as this will give you the incorrect size.
When measuring circumferences (B, C, D, E) it is important to note that the tape measure must remain parallel to the floor. It is sometimes best to take the measurements in front of a mirror; this will help you see the angle of the tape measure.
You will only require the basic body measurements to determine your pattern size which is indicated on our mannequin below:
A. Shoulder Breadth
Place the tape at the edge of the shoulder. Measure along the top of the shoulder blade/across the highest point of the shoulders to the other edge, following the natural slope and allow an extra finger for ease of any movement.
B. Upper Arm Girth
This point is taken as a circumference at your widest point of your upper arm.
C. Bust
This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the fullest part of your chest.
D. Waist
This point is taken as a circumference and taken at the smallest part of your waist.
E. Hip
This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the widest part of your hips.

Just cut out “Gertrude”. Concerned I might have cut it out tooo small. Reading reviews, maybe I’ll be fine. Love the design can’t wait to see the end result. Will keep you posted
