This stressed me a bit and had to recut/resize the collar (added 1 inch) and front. However, when it came together, I absolutely LOVED IT. Did another and it’s perfection. My favorite shirt… just be patient

A really great shirt and my first attempt at a collar and packet. I had issues with the instructions which tell you to attach the collar before sewing the shoulder seams. Be sure to read all through the instructions and follow your instincts. 😄 I also found that I needed to make the tiniest tuck behind the packet in order to enable them to sit on top of each other. That may just be me though, or my linen. Will likely make another in the future.

I love the way my shirt turned out! But the pattern was not good – the written instructions are in the wrong order and don’t really follow the pictures. It’s just as well that I am a relatively experienced needlewoman. Photographs or a video blog would be useful for some areas (collar, placket). I would have liked a much larger font too – the current one is far too small. Next time I make this I will adapt it so that the sleeves have cuffs and are just slightly smaller around the wrist.

The Lennie shirt has a casual-sporty look that suits me well. It is very comfortable and not terribly difficult to make. I made mine from flannel, because I live in Wisconsin, USA and are in the middle of an extreme winter (temps at -30 C and two meters of snow so far). I have received many compliments from my friends on the shirt. This one is a winner!

How Do I Know What Size I Am?
Choosing your pattern size is the most important step and we will help you determine this with these easy to follow steps.
When taking your measurements ensure that you take them against your skin and not over clothing. One can wear a comfortable bra and knickers whilst measuring, as this will provide you with the most accurate measurements.
Tape measure has to sit firmly around the points you are measuring. But be careful not to pull it too tight, as this will give you the incorrect size.
When measuring circumferences (B, C, D, E) it is important to note that the tape measure must remain parallel to the floor. It is sometimes best to take the measurements in front of a mirror; this will help you see the angle of the tape measure.
You will only require the basic body measurements to determine your pattern size which is indicated on our mannequin below:
A. Shoulder Breadth
Place the tape at the edge of the shoulder. Measure along the top of the shoulder blade/across the highest point of the shoulders to the other edge, following the natural slope and allow an extra finger for ease of any movement.
B. Upper Arm Girth
This point is taken as a circumference at your widest point of your upper arm.
C. Bust
This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the fullest part of your chest.
D. Waist
This point is taken as a circumference and taken at the smallest part of your waist.
E. Hip
This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the widest part of your hips.
