The Ruth Kids Skirt was easy to construct. I made two versions. One with the shirred waistband and another with a two channel elastic waistband (not part of the pattern.). My personal preference was for the the channel waistband as it is a more structured fit, but my grandaughter prefers the shirred waistband as it is easier to pull on and off. I hadn’t done any shirring for many years but it is an easy process if you are patient with winding your bobbin. Pattern is easily adapted if the child does not fit the pattern sizes.

Once I worked out how to shir the waste band (I’m a bit of a novice!) I really enjoyed making this quick and simple skirt! My girls love them too! Made in both a light weight cotton & a jersey fabric – both turning out well.
