I wish I had made a toile – it is restrictive in the shoulders yet at the same time, my bra/ nipples show through the gaping arm holes. 🤦 So a camisole is necessarily with my first attempt. I will reduce the shoulder curve and raise the bottom of the arm hole next time. I would also reduce the split at the sides, I think. All that said, with some tweaks, I think it would make a great staple top.

I loved the simplicity of the design but finished product did not fit me. It was very short, and too small. I bought the pattern according to my bust size. I used a woven silk with no stretch, perhaps a knit would have been better. The dropped shoulder is very restrictive in movement. If more ease, and a little more length was built into the design this simple top would be a winner.

I love this pattern! I have made this top in both woven as well as knit & it comes out a winner with all material. It uses such little material that I have made it with leftovers from other projects. I have used a light iron on stiffening interfacing on the neck as well as the bottom facings. It gives a nice crisp look. I have also down a good bit of top stitching because it gives the top a more finished look. I have made the top using the key hole in the back and without it: both ways look cute. For a professional, office look I have used my exact size because the darts, bust and armhole opening will restrict the shoulder a bit, but the fit is lovely. For a more relaxed, casual fit, I simply added a bit to the pattern. Absolutely great pattern!

Fun to make, but I found the finished product to be very uncomfortable and restrictive across the shoulders. Unsure that I will wear.

I’m very happy with the finished top. I made it in a medium weight black linen .I am 170 cm and would feel more comfortable with it 5cm longer so that’s what I will do next time . I will also fold the front in half and cut it on the fold for more accuracy with linen . If scuba fabric was used having the full front pattern would be fine . The opening at the back neck looks good but could be omitted as the neck opening is quite generous .

How Do I Know What Size I Am?
Choosing your pattern size is the most important step and we will help you determine this with these easy to follow steps.
When taking your measurements ensure that you take them against your skin and not over clothing. One can wear a comfortable bra and knickers whilst measuring, as this will provide you with the most accurate measurements.
Tape measure has to sit firmly around the points you are measuring. But be careful not to pull it too tight, as this will give you the incorrect size.
When measuring circumferences (B, C, D, E) it is important to note that the tape measure must remain parallel to the floor. It is sometimes best to take the measurements in front of a mirror; this will help you see the angle of the tape measure.
You will only require the basic body measurements to determine your pattern size which is indicated on our mannequin below:
A. Shoulder Breadth
Place the tape at the edge of the shoulder. Measure along the top of the shoulder blade/across the highest point of the shoulders to the other edge, following the natural slope and allow an extra finger for ease of any movement.
B. Upper Arm Girth
This point is taken as a circumference at your widest point of your upper arm.
C. Bust
This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the fullest part of your chest.
D. Waist
This point is taken as a circumference and taken at the smallest part of your waist.
E. Hip
This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the widest part of your hips.
