I wanted to make a jumper style for an extra layer for a up coming trip to Canberra. The Winnie looked like it would fit my needs as something to be worn over a skivvy. I made a wearable toile in t-shirt type fabric. The fit is good. I usually make size 20 but have to take in the shoulders, this was not necessary as the shoulders are a good fit. I omitted the side slits as unnecessary. Neck funnel sits ok but not great. For the next one I used a bonded scuba knit crepe, this is thicker than the t-shirt fabric and I extended the neck an extra 2 inches. Very happy with the result. Neck line sits perfectly. Pattern is very easy to put together and can be completed from cut out to finish in a day. I made a threaded make on the bottom hem at the back as it is easy to put this on back-to-front.

Great simple pattern that is versatile and easy to modify. I have sewn versions as is and brought in the sides for a different look. My sewing machine has a stretch invisible hem stitch that I’ve used to secure the neck. I recommend giving that a try if you have the option.

Elegant yet simple. I had to reduce length of neck portion of pattern slightly because it was too high for my neck. I also left out slits in side seams because they added bulk and did not allow the bottom to drape nicely. If you have a fabric that tells its own story, this is the pattern for you.

Had to make adjustments as my first version 38/14 was overall too big and the front was pulling tight across the width of my shoulder which created an unflattering neckline. Second version I made a size smaller and added 1/4″ to the front arm hole which seemed to solve the problem. Otherwise a nice easy top, will definitely make another one.

The sizing and fit are spot on, as with many patterns I only had to lengthen the body as I am tall. The shape is modern and relaxed. The funnel neck is easy to sew and wear. I agree with a previous reviewer that the side split instructions are brief, however I love the shape so much that I would make this pattern again.

I loved this pattern much more than I thought I would. It has a classic style that goes well with jeans or nice dress pants. My only suggestion would be to mark the back somehow-as the neckline is seamless, it can sometimes be confusing as to which side is front or back.

Such a lovely shape to this top.
Stylearc’ usual attention to interesting design details makes this far more than a winter sweatshirt.
The finished top came out quite large, but the boxy shape means it’s not too important, although in future I’ll size down.
It went together with little challenge, apart from the side splits, which are a tad complicated to understand. Annoyingly, the instructions are brief to the point of non existent. I even went back to check I hadn’t failed to print something relevant, but it seems guesswork is a requirement so maybe not for the faint hearted newbie.
Having said that, it was worth twice unpicking the side splits to get such a great shaped make.

How Do I Know What Size I Am?
Choosing your pattern size is the most important step and we will help you determine this with these easy to follow steps.
When taking your measurements ensure that you take them against your skin and not over clothing. One can wear a comfortable bra and knickers whilst measuring, as this will provide you with the most accurate measurements.
Tape measure has to sit firmly around the points you are measuring. But be careful not to pull it too tight, as this will give you the incorrect size.
When measuring circumferences (B, C, D, E) it is important to note that the tape measure must remain parallel to the floor. It is sometimes best to take the measurements in front of a mirror; this will help you see the angle of the tape measure.
You will only require the basic body measurements to determine your pattern size which is indicated on our mannequin below:
A. Shoulder Breadth
Place the tape at the edge of the shoulder. Measure along the top of the shoulder blade/across the highest point of the shoulders to the other edge, following the natural slope and allow an extra finger for ease of any movement.
B. Upper Arm Girth
This point is taken as a circumference at your widest point of your upper arm.
C. Bust
This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the fullest part of your chest.
D. Waist
This point is taken as a circumference and taken at the smallest part of your waist.
E. Hip
This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the widest part of your hips.
