You will love this gorgeous button through sun dress. The bodice is beautifully fitted. The shaped bust seams and the shirred back allows this dress to fit perfectly and be comfortable to wear. The skirt has gathers falling from the waist and and two large patch pockets. Not after a dress? You can make this one as a midriff top too!

It was incredibly annoying that all the sizes must be printed together as there are no layers to the PDF. It made cutting out the front panels especially difficult and in some areas I just had to guess where to cut.
Be sure to refer to the finished garment measurements when choosing a size as the bust measurement in the size chart is EXACTLY THE SAME as the finished garment measurement (and that is with the shirred panel fully stretched). It’s weird because the waist will have 5cm of positive ease with the shirred panel fully stretched. So I can only surmise that the pattern is drafted for someone quite rectangular in shape ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Like almost everyone else who’s made and reviewed this, I had to add to the bust and remove from the waist to get a good fit.

I can’t review the garment itself because I will not be making it. I was prepared for vague/brief instructions but the multi size pdf is unusable for me for several reasons: 1) there are no layers so it is impossible to isolate your size, 2) all sizes use solid lines and must be printed in color to be able to tell them apart, 3) both the cut line and stitch lines are represented so it’s REALLY impossible to disentangle the sizes, and 4) the cherry on top: there is a rats nest of squiggly/wavy lines across the tops of the skirt pieces (which I think are intended to represent gathers – totally unnecessary and unhelpful). I do not own a color printer and even if I did it would be hard to cut this pattern properly with so many different unnecessary markings. The whole point of print at home patterns is convenience. This is the least convenient pattern I have ever tried to work with (and I sew a LOT). Really frustrating experience.

This dress turned out beautifully for me! I did have trouble attaching the bodice to the skirt because of the way the shirring was sewn into the bodice. Next time I will make adjustments to the way I attach the bodice pieces together. https://www.instagram.com/p/CCy2VwQlkFX/?igshid=1lbx7nqzu7779

The instructions leave something to be desired, but I found some tutorials online that helped with the shirring and a better method for sewing the bodice together and attaching the skirt. That’s pretty typical to SA, and you should know that going into any of their patterns.
The size fits true to the bust. I did have to add an inch to the bodice pieces and some length to the straps to accommodate my long torso, but it fits perfectly with my changes. I changed the space between the buttons on the bodice so that there were 4 instead of 5, and then spaced the buttons on the skirt to match the top. I top stitched everything for a more professional look. I also left out the pockets so that it didn’t break up the pattern on the skirt. If I were to do this in a solid colour, I would have included the pockets.
I made this dress in cotton poplin, which has an adorable print but may have been a little stiff. Next time I make this dress it will be in a fabric with more drape.

Overall this is a great pattern and relatively easy to follow. Made mine with organic cotton fabric and added pleats at the waist rather than the gathers. Fits really well and is comfortable to wear. Very happy as I received a few complements when I wore it to brunch.

How Do I Know What Size I Am?
Choosing your pattern size is the most important step and we will help you determine this with these easy to follow steps.
When taking your measurements ensure that you take them against your skin and not over clothing. One can wear a comfortable bra and knickers whilst measuring, as this will provide you with the most accurate measurements.
Tape measure has to sit firmly around the points you are measuring. But be careful not to pull it too tight, as this will give you the incorrect size.
When measuring circumferences (B, C, D, E) it is important to note that the tape measure must remain parallel to the floor. It is sometimes best to take the measurements in front of a mirror; this will help you see the angle of the tape measure.
You will only require the basic body measurements to determine your pattern size which is indicated on our mannequin below:
A. Shoulder Breadth
Place the tape at the edge of the shoulder. Measure along the top of the shoulder blade/across the highest point of the shoulders to the other edge, following the natural slope and allow an extra finger for ease of any movement.
B. Upper Arm Girth
This point is taken as a circumference at your widest point of your upper arm.
C. Bust
This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the fullest part of your chest.
D. Waist
This point is taken as a circumference and taken at the smallest part of your waist.
E. Hip
This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the widest part of your hips.
