Very easy to make, I inserted single stretch cuffing for the neck, definitely go down a size as came up to big even on bust measurements followed on pattern, I took sides in by nearly an inch, I’ll make another and will take up length a bit as well.

This is my first-ever Style Arc pattern and I really love it! The vest is super simple to put together and is incredibly stylish. I made it in a bright pink sweater knit with hearts all over it for Valentine’s Day, it was so fun to wear.

It is an oversized fit and honestly, wears a bit like a mini-dress, but I really liked that look. The great thing is that you can easily play around with the length and size to make it work for you. The v-neck was simple to construct, the additional pictures on the blog really helped (https://www.stylearc.com/magazine/sewing-tutorials/keith-knit-vest/).

The only thing missing for me was that Style Arc does NOT specify stretch percentage on the pattern, only fabrics with “some” stretch, and that isn’t enough. It’s super important to know how much stretch you need for a project, especially for a neckband, otherwise there’s a risk of it not turning out well. I opted for a super stretchy knit I had in a contrast fabric to be safe. I highly recommend this pattern and look forward to exploring other Style Arc designs in the future.

I like this vest; it’s pretty cute.

Next time I’ll go down a size as I had to take in the sides.. I also shortened the length as this was the length of a tunic on me…I’m 5’ 3”.

Very thankful for the tutorial as I needed it when it came time to do the neck. That step was a bit fiddily.

I’m game to make another one and try in another fabric.

This has a gorgeous thick V neck which I made in faux leather on a hachi sweater knit vest. The fit is oversized and slouchy which looks fantastic over jeans. I really love this vest and will be making quite a few more. Highly recommend.

The Keith is a simple construction and a quick sew. It is a handy layering piece.
I failed to read the finished garment size so my first attempt was very oversized. A half hour of unpicking , reducing and recutting of the side seams soon fixed that.
I am still pondering the optimum finished length for me. I can tell even now that I will wear this piece a lot.
    I recommend this pattern

How Do I Know What Size I Am?

Choosing your pattern size is the most important step and we will help you determine this with these easy to follow steps.

  1. When taking your measurements ensure that you take them against your skin and not over clothing. One can wear a comfortable bra and knickers whilst measuring, as this will provide you with the most accurate measurements.
  2. Tape measure has to sit firmly around the points you are measuring. But be careful not to pull it too tight, as this will give you the incorrect size.
  3. When measuring circumferences (B, C, D, E) it is important to note that the tape measure must remain parallel to the floor. It is sometimes best to take the measurements in front of a mirror; this will help you see the angle of the tape measure.
  4. You will only require the basic body measurements to determine your pattern size which is indicated on our mannequin below:
A. Shoulder Breadth

Place the tape at the edge of the shoulder. Measure along the top of the shoulder blade/across the highest point of the shoulders to the other edge, following the natural slope and allow an extra finger for ease of any movement.

B. Upper Arm Girth

This point is taken as a circumference at your widest point of your upper arm.

C. Bust

This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the fullest part of your chest.

D. Waist

This point is taken as a circumference and taken at the smallest part of your waist.

E. Hip

This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the widest part of your hips.
