I too printed the pattern on a plotter and I will do this moving forward as it was the most accurate way to do it and the least hassle. It was worth the $10. The cuff was very challenging. That makes this pattern not for beginners. I would have a few projects under your belt before tackling the pattern. My projects was made more challenging as I had stripes. In this instance, I would recommend doing a muslin first for the sleeves and cuffs. Then, I would draw the fabric pattern direction on the muslin to see how it should be cut out. And, don’t forget to reverse everything for the other cuff side. I ended up with two left cuffs and had to redo the right one (or vice versa). I did insert the tab even though you don’t really see it when the cuffs are up. It made for a funky detail. The tab was the part that I had to rip out for the opposite cuff side as that is the piece that has to be reversed. I also has a few challenges with the collar tab and it is kind of out of shape, although the average person wouldn’t notice when I’m wearing it. Definitely look at the collar tutorial before assembling. Although my waist is a bit bigger than what is called for in the size 14, it worked well because it is not fitted. So I would say go with the size you most often buy in a store. For me that was a 14. Hope this helps.

I downloaded the pattern which cost me $8 to print on large paper. I didn’t think A4 size would have been too messy! The shirt came together easily and I changed it a bit, no cuffs and a priest collar which my daughter loved, she is thrilled with her Linen version.

I really like my finished shirt but those cuffs certainly put the “c” in challenging, there seems to be no online tutorial, which would have been helpful. I worked it out after a frustrating few hours but the cuff was massive and the cuff tab seem to stop one side sitting as the other did. In the end I went rouge cut the cuff down, got rid of the tab & am very pleased with the result.

How Do I Know What Size I Am?

Choosing your pattern size is the most important step and we will help you determine this with these easy to follow steps.

  1. When taking your measurements ensure that you take them against your skin and not over clothing. One can wear a comfortable bra and knickers whilst measuring, as this will provide you with the most accurate measurements.
  2. Tape measure has to sit firmly around the points you are measuring. But be careful not to pull it too tight, as this will give you the incorrect size.
  3. When measuring circumferences (B, C, D, E) it is important to note that the tape measure must remain parallel to the floor. It is sometimes best to take the measurements in front of a mirror; this will help you see the angle of the tape measure.
  4. You will only require the basic body measurements to determine your pattern size which is indicated on our mannequin below:
A. Shoulder Breadth

Place the tape at the edge of the shoulder. Measure along the top of the shoulder blade/across the highest point of the shoulders to the other edge, following the natural slope and allow an extra finger for ease of any movement.

B. Upper Arm Girth

This point is taken as a circumference at your widest point of your upper arm.

C. Bust

This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the fullest part of your chest.

D. Waist

This point is taken as a circumference and taken at the smallest part of your waist.

E. Hip

This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the widest part of your hips.
