Very stylish and unusual tunic. The tunic runs true to size. The twisted sleeve is indeed a bit tricky with the minimal instructions provided with the .pdf pattern. I recommend doing a toile for the sleeves beforehand. I made mine in linen and was worried about the difficulty of ironing those sleeves, but actually they are no problem to press. I interfaced the facings, as per instructions, and even though I used a featherweight fusible product, I think they are a little stiff – especially the hem facings. Next time I will not interface the hem facing. I could not understand the instructions for the facing at the back slit at all and ended up just sewing the split closed. The neck opening is plenty big enough without the split. This top has one of the easiest fitting sleeves I have ever sewn. They went in perfectly without even a suggestion of puckering. In summary, the Sadie tunic pattern is not for the faint hearted or inexperienced, but it makes up into a lovely unique garment.

I enjoyed making this top and am really pleased with the result. Prior to sewing the top I had looked at reviews on this page and in Pattern Review and saw some comments on putting the sleeves together.
After sewing this, I would suggest marking each point e.g A,B,C,D on the fabric and then placing the pattern on each sleeve and just follow the line for the twist which is on the pattern and it should go together smoothly. I was in a bit of a rush to sew this and ended up having a couple of goes at the twist before I got it right . Will be making another one, next time my only alteration would be to lengthen it a little for my height but still am very happy with the one I have made .

A lovely pattern with a clever ‘twist’ to the sleeve. Made for a friend overseas and Style Arc was most helpful with choice of sizing. Will definitely be making more https://www.instagram.com/p/B5EU58cAqXF/?igshid=1lakbddntncqy

This is a great pattern and fits really well! Though the instructions are minimal, I was able to figure out the twist in the sleeves without too many problems. My only gripe is with the facings – they were hard to get exactly right, but I’m not a big fan of facings in the first place. I’ll probably make another, though!

I made the Sadie Tunic in a size 10 (printed copy) in a beautiful spotty linen from Tessuti Fabrics. The instructions were minimal and I managed to spent a good hour trying to work out how to do the twist! When it came together it was gorgeous and the fit is perfect. Lovely on the shoulders and drapes really well. I received quite a few compliments on this one! Highly recommend.

How Do I Know What Size I Am?

Choosing your pattern size is the most important step and we will help you determine this with these easy to follow steps.

  1. When taking your measurements ensure that you take them against your skin and not over clothing. One can wear a comfortable bra and knickers whilst measuring, as this will provide you with the most accurate measurements.
  2. Tape measure has to sit firmly around the points you are measuring. But be careful not to pull it too tight, as this will give you the incorrect size.
  3. When measuring circumferences (B, C, D, E) it is important to note that the tape measure must remain parallel to the floor. It is sometimes best to take the measurements in front of a mirror; this will help you see the angle of the tape measure.
  4. You will only require the basic body measurements to determine your pattern size which is indicated on our mannequin below:
A. Shoulder Breadth

Place the tape at the edge of the shoulder. Measure along the top of the shoulder blade/across the highest point of the shoulders to the other edge, following the natural slope and allow an extra finger for ease of any movement.

B. Upper Arm Girth

This point is taken as a circumference at your widest point of your upper arm.

C. Bust

This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the fullest part of your chest.

D. Waist

This point is taken as a circumference and taken at the smallest part of your waist.

E. Hip

This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the widest part of your hips.
