First Style ARC pattern I have used. Fabric used was a heavy ponte. Very happy with the size used. My normal pants alteration – take in back waist to allow for sway back – gave me a good fit. I chose to take in the side seams about 1cm. Very comfy pants that sit nicely around the waist with the pattern detail.

I made these pants in Bengaline and also cropped them to just below my knees. It is an easy pattern to put together, the instructions are clear and a very comfortable pair of pants to wear. I like the slim legs and they look nice with a tunic or longer length tee shirt. I’ll definitely make more, the full length next time.

Very easy to construct, and lovely to wear but the elastic waist isn’t too flattering – it’s OK if you wear a longline top, but you could never wear them as per the drawings.
If I was to make them again, I’d definitely make the front flat (as in the Clare pant) or possibly adjust the waist band and use an invisible zip at the side. In reality, I won’t do the latter as it would be easier just to use a different pattern!

Love this pattern so much I made 5 pairs in bengaline. One pair I made cropped. Love the detail, just a perfect fit, which is what I get from Style Arc every time.

Really great pattern and the finished trousers fitted beautifully. I will be making more pairs of trousers from this pattern and they were quick and easy to sew.

Great pants! Super comfortable and easy to make. I altered slightly to enlarge the waist and hips. I love the way they look and will definitely use this pattern over and over again.

AMAZING!!! Yep, these pants are amazing. This is the FIRST pair of pants I have made that didn’t require hours of adjustment in the crotch curve. I sewed these up in a stretch denim I bought for very little money expecting to use the fabric for my “muslin”. So, even though they fit perfectly, I cut them shorter and made capris. Those too looked fantastic. So,…I made shorts. For those I was careful to not angle the side seams, but other than that they too were perfect. I am over the moon excited I have found a pattern that I can use year round and know it will fit. Thank you Style Arc for the Sage Pants pattern!!!! Oh, please rename these to the Sage Perfect Pant Pattern. 🙂

I really like this pattern. I like the fit and how easy they were to make. This pattern gave me a nice slim leg. I didn’t want leggings. These are perfect. My mom even wanted a pair, sight unseen, just because I was so happy with them. I made these with a ponte knit.

How Do I Know What Size I Am?

Choosing your pattern size is the most important step and we will help you determine this with these easy to follow steps.

  1. When taking your measurements ensure that you take them against your skin and not over clothing. One can wear a comfortable bra and knickers whilst measuring, as this will provide you with the most accurate measurements.
  2. Tape measure has to sit firmly around the points you are measuring. But be careful not to pull it too tight, as this will give you the incorrect size.
  3. When measuring circumferences (B, C, D, E) it is important to note that the tape measure must remain parallel to the floor. It is sometimes best to take the measurements in front of a mirror; this will help you see the angle of the tape measure.
  4. You will only require the basic body measurements to determine your pattern size which is indicated on our mannequin below:
A. Shoulder Breadth

Place the tape at the edge of the shoulder. Measure along the top of the shoulder blade/across the highest point of the shoulders to the other edge, following the natural slope and allow an extra finger for ease of any movement.

B. Upper Arm Girth

This point is taken as a circumference at your widest point of your upper arm.

C. Bust

This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the fullest part of your chest.

D. Waist

This point is taken as a circumference and taken at the smallest part of your waist.

E. Hip

This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the widest part of your hips.
